Primavera Sound is a music festival that takes place between the end of May and beginning of June in Barcelona. It is one of Europe's biggest indie and alternative music festivals. The festival attracts the continent's hipsters due to its varied lineup of everything from alt-rock to underground house and techno. I visited Primavera Sound Barcelona for the first time in 2014, excited by the reunion of Slowdive, nearly 20 years after their hiatus. The whole line-up was outstanding with bands like: Chvrches, Arcade Fire, Warpaint, Moderat, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Mogwai, Nine Inch Nails, Yamantaka // Sonic Titan, Metronomy... just to name a few.
Three days, 200 thousand people, tens of bands and more than 10 stages playing music from early in the afternoon until the dawn. It is an amazing experience and the festival extremely well organised for its size. I was so excited that just a few days after the festival had finished I bought tickets for Primavera Sound 2015. And it was well worth it. Underworld, Ride, Spiritualized, Mac Demarco, The Strokes, Interpol, Belle & Sebastian and Patti Smith among so many others. Belle and Sebastian's show was something to remember, everyone was singing along, dancing... Nostalgia was thick in the air. Personal favorite moment, the closing act of the festival with Underworld performing their 1994's Dubnobasswithmyheadman album at 3am and finishing with "Born Slippy".
